How credits and billing actually work
Straight answers, grounded in how the product behaves today.
What are credits?
Credits meter AI card generation. You get 50 free starter credits when you sign up — no card required — and Mnestica Pro adds 500 more on each monthly renewal. On the current launch path, that covers up to 500 generated cards per renewal. Reviewing your cards with spaced repetition does not consume credits.
Do credits expire?
No. Unused credits roll over and never expire. Balances are never expired by the app, and unused credits carry over between months. If you cancel, you keep your remaining credits.
What do I get for free?
Two things. The public demo needs no account at all — it shows sample source text, generated cards, and a pre-made repair fixture. Signing up adds 50 one-time starter credits so you can generate cards from your own notes. The free plan does not refill monthly; that is what Mnestica Pro is for.
How does upgrading work?
Payments run through Stripe Checkout — Mnestica never handles your card directly. If you are signed out, the upgrade button creates your account first and then opens checkout from your billing page. If you are signed in, it goes straight there.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel self-serve from the Billing page via the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, you keep paid access until then, and you keep any remaining credits. Details are in the cancellation & refund policy.
What happens if a generation fails?
If generation fails or returns zero usable cards, the charged credits are reversed automatically.
